How Ontario SPCA Pet Insurance Works
All it takes for your pet to be covered is choosing which amount of lifelong and comprehensive coverage you want for your pet. Once that's done and you've enrolled, you can rest easy, knowing you're prepared for the future and your pet is protected, for life.
 |
Select the coverage level that suits you from our Coverage for Life program; |
When you select your level of coverage, you’re selecting the amount you’ll have available to you all year. It’s yours to use, for anything from emergency surgery to treating a newly-diagnosed illness to preventative care* for future conditions. The choice is yours. As long as your pet is at least 8 weeks old, they can be covered and begin enjoying the benefits of lifelong coverage. After you’re covered, you can raise your coverage level if you choose to, it’s simple to do. |
 |
Once you’re covered, visit your veterinarian for diagnosis and treatment, when you’re finished, send in your claim – either through your vet clinic or by yourself; |
Once the enrolment waiting period has passed and your Ontario SPCA Pet Insurance is in effect, make an appointment with your vet, for a checkup, an exam or perhaps something more specific, it’s up to you. When you’re done, send us the paid invoice and claim form. Some veterinary clinics are using the EVE system so your claim can be submitted electronically, speeding up the process. |
 |
Receive your cheque and deposit it at the bank. |
When we receive your claim, we’ll process it, and after its assessment by our claims team, we’ll send you a cheque. It will be for your covered claim expenses less any deductible or applicable Co-Payment Remember, you begin the year with a specified amount for your pet, so you should keep track of your claims to ensure you don’t go over your amount, unless you’ve chosen our Unlimited Coverage. |
